Objectives The development of competence in geotechnical engineering as applied to civil and construction engineering.

Synopsis Soil composition, clay minerals, soil condition, compaction, pore pressure and effective stress, permeability and seepage, rock-forming minerals and petrology, structural geology and tectonics, geomorphology.

Assessment Examination (3 hours): 80%
* Assignment: 20%
