Civil engineering project management

Objectives The student is expected to develop an understanding of the role of management, the relationship between engineering skills and management roles, the economic principles of supply and demand, the time value of money, the nature and role of engineering projects, how engineering projects are funded and the basic principles of engineering project management.

Synopsis Role of engineering, cost estimation and project control, engineering economics, project evaluation (economic, environmental, social), engineering finance, project planning, project management and administration.

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 50%
* Assignment: 20%
* Case studies and tutorials: 30%
