Objectives The student is expected to acquire knowledge and understanding of basic and advanced process control techniques, systems and applications, as well as the ability to assess the potential benefits of the use of process control technology.

Synopsis Process modelling for control purposes; tuning and design of conventional control systems for multivariable processes; limitations of `conventional' control systems and introduction to advanced control; overview of computer based process control systems and methods.

Assessment Examinations: 80%
