3 points
* 18 lectures and 6 tutorials
* First semester
* Clayton
* Prerequisites: CHE1110 or ENG1101

Objectives The student is expected to acquire an improved understanding and further knowledge of the mass balance for non-reacting and reacting systems. The student is also expected to acquire a basic knowledge and understanding of the idealised models of reactors important to the process industries.

Synopsis Steady and unsteady mass balances for non-reacting and reacting systems. Analysis of ideal reactors - batch, semi-batch, continuous stirred tank, plug-flow tubular.

Assessment Examinations: 80%
* Class tests: 20%
