Momentum transfer I

Objectives The student is expected to acquire a basic knowledge and understanding of momentum transfer analysis and modelling of fluid-flow phenomena in idealised or simple systems relevant to chemical and process engineering.

Synopsis An introduction to momentum transfer. Topics include fluid statics; differential and integral balances of mass, momentum and energy; flow measurement; pipe flow and frictional losses; dimensional analysis; pumps; particle drag.

Assessment Examinations: 70%
* Assignments: 30%
