The literacy studies pathway is designed for educators and other
professionals engaged in a variety of workplace settings, tertiary
institutions, adult and community programs, and schools.
The major objectives of the literacy studies pathway are to provide
students with knowledge and understanding to:
- engage with the most recent research in the burgeoning field of literacy
studies;
- acquire skills in the research methodologies appropriate to the field of
literacy studies;
- develop skills in accessing and using relevant library information
services and digital electronic research tools;
- complete assigned tasks which demonstrate an ability to engage at an
advanced academic level with the issues and interests in the field of literacy
studies.

Any of
the research subjects in the Master of Education course information list may
also be chosen.
The project, of approximately 20,000 words, must focus on a topic
relevant to literacy studies. Students intending to enrol in the project must
complete an appropriate research methodology subject.
