Technology - project-centred learning

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed an improved understanding of the relationship between technology and technology education; an ability to develop teaching units and teaching programs for the key learning area of technology; and an understanding of the differences between technology and other key learning areas.

Synopsis This subject offers an introduction to the study of teaching and learning in the still relatively new learning area of technology. The subject is designed for primary or secondary teachers working in the area and for teachers who are interested in exploring another area of the curriculum. The subject will investigate the relationship between technology and technology education and proceed from this to the development of a curriculum model in which projects play a pivotal role. Use of the model to generate individual projects and programs, for various levels of schooling, will constitute a major component of the study.

Assessment Development of a program: 60%
* Assignment (2000 words): 40%
