Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to interpret and implement visual arts curriculum in schools. They should be able to demonstrate their knowledge of appropriate artistic skills; their range of assessment and appraisal techniques for visual art programs; their knowledge of professional associations; and their understanding of appropriate content and teaching procedures in the arts.

Synopsis This subject examines the Australian visual arts curriculum from reception or preparatory year to years 11 and 12. The subject encompasses aspects of the visual arts curriculum which provide learning experiences including aesthetics and criticism, studio methods and the presentation of artworks. Intending teaching of visual arts will enhance their knowledge of Australian artistic styles and recent curriculum developments with regard to the successful teaching of classroom and studio art methods and art appreciation.

Assessment Written exercises (totalling 1500 words): 30%
* Essay (2500 words): 70%
