Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have acquired an understanding of philosophical influences in the development of sport and resource recreation in Australia; have developed an understanding of practices in the conduct of services in sport and resource recreation; and have developed competencies and understanding of current practices in the areas of aquatics, the fundamental motor skills of a major game and an overview of resource recreation pursuits.
Synopsis This subject will focus on the study of the philosophy, principles and practices related to the delivery of sport and resource recreation in a broad range of settings. Students will identify the basis of the development of the area in Australia and more particularly the local region. Studies will include an awareness of the profession, delivery styles, tools, and settings. The study will allow students to identify the background and identify the professional roles in the industry. Practical studies will be undertaken in the area of aquatics, sport and an introduction to summer outdoor pursuits. Students will be required to develop competencies in swimming and water safety, undertake skill development in the area of major games and attend extended workshop programs in resource recreation pursuits.
