The Graduate Certificate in Electronic Commerce has been designed to provide graduates with an opportunity to upgrade their knowledge and skill in contemporary theory, processes and practices of electronic commerce.

Course objectives

The course focuses on the impact of electronic commerce in the work place and the design and implementation of strategies to optimise the potential benefits inherent in the ongoing evolution of this form of technological change.

Admission requirements

Applicants require a pass degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution. Applicants without a first degree who have a minimum of six years appropriate employment experience should refer to the section on executive certificates.

Technology requirements

Students must have full access to a personal computer and it is an essential tool for electronic commerce and for this course. Distance education students must have access to the Internet and World Wide Web (WWW) to submit assignments electronically, communicate with lecturers and other students, and to receive subject material electronically. It is recommended that access to the WWW be obtained through a private Internet service provider (ISP), however, limited access is also available through Monash connections in Melbourne and Churchill. Please note that the School of Business and Electronic Commerce operates in an IBM-compatible environment.

Fees

This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the School of Business and Electronic Commerce as to the 1998 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change.

Duration

The Graduate Certificate in Electronic Commerce is normally completed in two semesters of part-time study.

Mode of offering

The course is offered on-campus and by distance education from the School of Business and Electronic Commerce.

Credit for work done previously

Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of two credit exemptions for subjects considered to be equivalent to particular subjects in the course of study. Candidates should consult the course director for further details.

Progression to further studies

Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Electronic Commerce may apply for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Electronic Commerce.
