This eight-subject course has been designed to enhance and develop management skills in systems thinking, organisational learning, strategy, finance, marketing and managerial competencies. Students will be able to develop an understanding of managerial roles required to manage individuals and organisations in dynamic environments.
On completion of the course students will:
Applicants require a pass degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution plus a minimum of two years relevant employment experience or an executive certificate offered by this faculty with an average grade of credit or above.
This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the Department of Management as to the 1998 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change.
Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of four credit exemptions for subjects considered to be equivalent to particular subjects in the course of study. Please refer to the course director for further details.
Classes are offered in evening or weekend teaching modes on-campus at Caulfield campus.
The Graduate Diploma in Business Management is normally completed in two semesters of full-time study or four semesters of part-time study.
The course for the graduate diploma consists of eight subjects:
(a) Four core subjects:
(c) Two further subjects taught by the Department of Management or other departments within the Faculty of Business and Economics, or, in approved instances, from other faculties within Monash University.
Course director approval is required for subject choice other than core subjects.
Candidates intending to pursue a research option in the Master of Management will be required to complete a research methodology subject of either MGC4000 (Research design, measurement techniques and data collection strategies), or MGF5430 (Business research methods).
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Business Management with an average grade of credit or above may apply for admission to either the Master of Management or the Master of Management (Organisational Systems).
