Objectives On completion of this subject students should understand the concept of agribusiness; be aware of the dimensions of the agribusiness system; appreciate the role and functions of members of the agribusiness system (farm input suppliers, agricultural producers, processors, distributors, banks and other financial institutions and government agencies); understand the nature of the linkages between these members.

Synopsis Topics include the definition and scope of agribusiness; identification of members of the food and fibre sector and the various subsections; the roles and functions of agribusiness firms; linkages in the agribusiness system; key issues facing agribusiness firms.

Assessment Assignment (6500 words): 65%
* Oral: 35%
