Objectives On completion of this subject students will have a sound understanding of tourism policy and be able to apply this policy when making decisions, further, students will develop an understanding of all aspects of the tourism environment.
Synopsis An introduction to the relevant laws as they relate to tourism, the role of the government in determining and managing tourism policy domestically and internationally, statutory planning frameworks, resort development, project financial analysis, feasibility studies, measuring and forecasting social, environmental and economic impacts of tourism.
Assessment Major assignment (3000 words) - syndicate
30%
* Minor assignment (2000 words): 20%
* Examination (2 hours): 50%
* The examination must be passed in order to pass the subject.
