The law of employment

Objectives On completion of this subject students should understand the central tenets of the contract of employment and issues related to enforcement of this contract.

Synopsis The subject deals with the legal incidents arising from the industrial employment relationship, including formation of the contract and its content, job description, variation, the wage- work bargain, confidentiality, restraints, conduct and discipline, sex and race discrimination, dismissal, unfair dismissal, redundancy.

Assessment Written (assignments 4000 words): 40%
* Take-home examination: 60%
