Objectives On completion of this subject students should be familiar with the role of information technology in enhancing an organisation's business strategy and competitive advantage nationally and internationally; familiar with how information technology affects an organisation's clients, customers, suppliers and the community; able to direct and cooperate with information systems professionals in identifying, selecting and managing a manufacturing information system; familiar with the quantitative methods which may have an application in a manufacturing/operations environment; familiar with computer software packages which can be used in the manufacturing/operations environment.

Synopsis Information technology and management issues, developments in computer hardware and software, data communications, hardware and software selection and implementation, application of business process re-engineering, project management techniques, linear programming, inventory control models, line balancing, techniques, simulation, quality control techniques.
