Objectives On completion of this subject students should understand the application of leading edge technologies and/or management practices in a real life commercial environment; be able to conduct investigations, research, or feasibility studies within a manufacturing enterprise and apply project planning principles; appreciate human dynamics factors in the successful conduct of industry projects; appreciate the importance of effective communications, both written and oral, at all stages of a project and the impact of a clear and conclusive report.
Synopsis A project, within a manufacturing company, in the form of an investigation, a feasibility study, or a research assignment. Application and integration of the manufacturing management technologies previously studied. Students work in pairs or in small teams under the joint supervision of a company supervisor (host company) and the project supervisor (Monash staff).
Assessment Tutorial: 25%
* Interim report and
presentation: 25%
* Final report and formal presentation to host company
management: (10,000 words): 50%
