* Prohibitions: Students who have successfully completed MGC1030 or MGC1030 between 1992 and 1995 are not permitted to enrol in this subject

Objectives On completion of this subject students should be able to understand the theoretical and empirical foundations of organisational behaviour; appraise the major factors influencing individual and group behaviour and performance in organisations; specify the role of individuals, groups and organisational processes in organisational functioning; and read and critically evaluate published research in organisational behaviour.

Synopsis This subject provides a framework for understanding the behaviour of people in work settings. Its field of analysis includes the individual, the group, and the total organisation, and it is concerned with characteristics and processes, and individual and organisational outcomes. As such, it provides information upon factors that affect the behaviour of people at work, and also upon human factors that influence both the effectiveness and efficiency of organisations.
