Objectives This core subject develops the theoretical foundations of economics and the generic skills essential for progression to upper level subjects by applying rigorous thinking and understanding to analytical geometric models. It fosters an appreciation of economics as an evolutionary science and its ability to address, in microeconomic and macroeconomic frameworks, the persistent social and economic problems confronted by society.
Synopsis An introduction to the study of economics - two weeks; basic microeconomics - five weeks; basic macroeconomics - five weeks; revision - one week.
Assessment Assignments: 30%
