Objectives On successful completion of this subject students should have gained an appreciation of the role of financial management and financing on the part of entrepreneurs; have gained a knowledge of the role of strategic planning and management for small enterprises; have been introduced to the various stages of business growth and the particular problems facing management at these various stages; be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the various alternatives facing an enterprise in financing and operating activities.
Synopsis Topics include alternatives for financing business ventures; financial management; effective financial reporting; the importance of budgeting and planning; performance measurement; positioning a firm for competitive advantage.
Assessment Two assignments (1500 words): 40%
