Objectives On completion of this subject students should understand the main components of a computer system; be familiar with the basic concepts of computer programming; understand data structures through the use of database software; understand the use of modelling applications in accounting, in the context of a spreadsheet software.
Synopsis This subject introduces the basic concepts of computer systems, information systems and business software that are relevant to accounting applications. Students will gain experience in basic computer programming using database and spreadsheet software.
Assessment Written (two computer-based assignments): 40%
* Examination (3 hours): 60%
