Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject students should have gained a deep understanding of contemporary Vietnam and its institutions. In addition, students should have acquired enhanced readking skills as well as oral skills needed to participate in topical discussions.

Synopsis Attention is focused on the use of Vietnamese in particular specialised areas such as journalism, business and law. A selection of texts, diverse in topic and contemporary in nature, forms the reading component of this subject. Model translations are made and oral presentations are given.

Assessment Written: 60%
* Oral presentations and classwork: 40%
