Spanish linguistics in trading and communication

Objectives This subject aims to teach students to recognise and be aware of some of the socio-cultural norms that regulate general discourse in Spanish and English; sensitise them to the socio-cultural norms of trading and communication in Spanish; and enhance their skills in business communication in the four areas of writing, speaking, understanding and reading.

Synopsis This subject focuses on the study and understanding of the communicative rules that govern trading in Spain and Latin America. Lectures centre on the theory of crosscultural communication. Tutorials develop the theoretical background and provide opportunities to practice a number of real or realistic trading and social situations.

Assessment Research essay: 40%
* Regular tests and oral presentations: 60%
