Objectives As for SCY2131, with these additional objectives. Students taking this subject at third-year level will demonstrate, especially in the writing of their essays: evidence of wider reading, particularly of more advanced references relevant to their topics; and a greater depth of critical appraisal of theoretical issues relevant to their topics, than is the case for students taking this subject at second-year level.

Synopsis As for SCY2131.

Assessment One seminar paper (2000 words): 30%
* One essay (2000 words): 30%
* Test (2 hours): 40%
* Students taking this subject at third-year level must write their essays from a separate list of topics and will be required to show a greater depth of critical analysis of arguments and issues than is expected of those writing their essays at second-year level.
