Advanced experimental psychology II

Objectives On the completion of this subject students will have an understanding of theoretical and philosophical issues in the discipline of psychology; have an appreciation of research and professional ethics; understand essential concepts and critical findings in a range of areas of contemporary psychology; have further developed the ability to write research reports in the form required in professional psychological journals; have learned how to design and implement their own research project; and have further developed the knowledge and skills base necessary to undertake advanced study and professional training in psychology.

Synopsis This subject provides advanced training in several major areas of psychology, and introduces students to ethical and theoretical issues in psychology. The subject includes units on group and individual differences in personality and intelligence; clinical neuropsychology; social psychology; history and philosophy of psychology and the ethics of research and professional practice. Students will undertake a semester-length research project under the supervision of a member of academic staff.
