* Prerequisites: A first-year sequence in philosophy followed by either PHL2170 or PHL2090

Objectives On successful completion of this subject students should be able to prove results (eg completeness theorems) about alternative logics and be able to access the technical and philosophical literature in which such results are presented and discussed.

Synopsis We investigate various questions in logical theory by considering alternatives to, and subsystems of, orthodox (`classical') logic.
