Introduction to philosophy C

Objectives On completing this subject students should have a better understanding of the nature of philosophical discourse, and have acquired the conceptual foundations for further study in the subject. They should also have developed an enhanced competence in both reading and writing text in which the presentation of a rigorously argued and coherent case for some point of view is developed.

Synopsis This subject is intended for students who wish to take a second philosophy subject in second semester. Thus students enrolled in PHL1040 will normally also be enrolled in PHL1020 Students select any two of the following (provided they have not been chosen as components for PHL1020): (i) `Metaphysics', (ii) `God, freedom and evil', (iii) `Morality and objectivity', and (iv) `Introduction to logic'.

Assessment As for PHL1020.
