Objectives On successful conclusion of the subject, students should hve had practice in recognising keyboard styles by ear and eye and should be able to locate them on a chronology of broader artistic styles.
Synopsis As for MUS3190. The subject surveys the history of keyboard instruments from the earliest hydraulic organ to the latest electronic reconstruction. In terms of repertoire, the 'peak' pieces will be examined against the background of styles and forms of lesser known works. Certain works are studied in great detail.
