Orchestral and choral performance and repertoire

* Prerequisites: Audition or passes in MUS1120/MUS1130 or MUS1070/MUS1080.

Objectives Upon completion of this subject students should have investigated specific and representative works in the repertoire for either the symphonic wind ensemble, the symphony orchestra or the choir and developed a basis for identifying elements of ensemble playing such as balance, intonation, style and appropriateness of performance, based on the study of relevant literature into ensembles.

Synopsis (i) Orchestral and choral rehearsals and concert performance of selected works, and (ii) the historical and theoretical study of the relevant repertoire. Note: different works from different periods are studied each semester.

Assessment Written (1000 words): 12.5%
