Orchestral and choral performance and studies

Objectives By the end of the semester, students undertaking this subject should have performed specific pieces in the orchestral and/or choral repertoire; discussed and identified key historical, contextual and structural elements to assist in the generating of stylistically appropriate performance; and gained ensemble experience within a mixed ensemble, addressing issues and problems such as intonation and balance.

Synopsis Students are allocated to an orchestral or choral ensemble for the performance of selected music and play an appropriate repertoire. Their performance assignments are normally to be performed on their chief instrument or voice. Classes also deal with repertoire, performance techniques and musicianship.

Assessment Written (2000 words): 25%
* Concert performance and practical examination: 75%
