Objectives To introduce students to multivariate data and initial statistical analysis incorporating matrix notation.

Synopsis Matrices and matrix operations including eigenvalues. Manipulation of data matrices. Correlation matrices. Multivariate normal distribution. Multivariate distance measures. Principal component analysis model. Factor analysis. Practical applications using SPSS and Minitab.

Assessment Three assignments: 30%
* Examination (1.5 hours): 70%
