Objectives To introduce students to the art and science of good experimental design and to teach students how to analyse the results of certain standard designs.

Synopsis Introduction to simple experimental designs as far as two-way analysis of variance. Model selection and the testing of model assumptions. Orthogonal contrasts and multiple comparisons. Randomised blocks and Latin squares. Computing packages used throughout.

Assessment Three assignments: 30%
* Examination (1.5 hours): 70%
