Modern Italian literature and society III

Objectives Through the reading of representative novels, the study of selected secondary sources and oral and written practice, students will have the opportunity to (i) appreciate major contemporary narrative trends and (ii) acquire an awareness of contemporary critical thought; (iii) acquire the ability to articulate critical interpretations in cohesive essays and seminar presentations.

Synopsis A study of a selection of narrative texts representative of major trends in contemporary Italian literature in the light of contemporary critical thought.

Assessment Two essays (approx. 1500 words each): 50%
* Examinations (2 hours): 35%
* Seminar participation: 15%
