Advanced Indonesian part 1

Objectives On successful completion of this subject students should be able (in Indonesian) to translate factual articles from the press or standard texts, summarise broadcast news (television and radio), debate current social issues, discuss aspects of Australian and Indonesian history-politics, analysis errors through the use of standard grammatical terminology, develop an approach to modern theatre.

Synopsis This subject looks at Indonesia and Australia through their political, historical, and cultural development as represented in the Australian and Indonesian media. The practicals introduce more specialist registers both in terms of communication tasks and language related to themes.

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 50%
* Semester work (assignments, oral): 50%
