Intermediate Indonesian, part 1

Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should have developed a further understanding of the Indonesian language, have a command of an expanded vocabulary, new and more complex syntax, new oral conventions and should be able to put into practice that newly acquired knowledge to communicate in more complex social situations. They should also have developed an understanding of aspects of the role of Indonesian literature in society.

Synopsis Passages from literary prose are read and analysed from a grammatical as well as a cultural viewpoint. The second lecture is devoted to a discussion ofthe Malay language and its development as Indonesian.

Assessment Written (750 words): 25%
* Examinations (2 hours): 50%
* Periodic tests: 25%
