Special subject 1: first semester

Objectives The aim of the Special Subjects is to provide students with a detailed knowledge and understanding of one particular subject or field, to enable them to engage critically with the theoretical and historical literature in that field and to provide the framework for them to work independently in that field.

Synopsis There will be several subjects in each semester offering study in depth of specific topics. Details of the subjects offered will be made available by the department. Students may choose to study either one special subject or two, as described above under fourth-year level. Those taking two special subjects must choose them from different subject areas. Students enrolling in first-semester special subject(s) should enrol in HSY4050 (or HSY4050 and HSY4070 if two first-semester subjects are chosen). Enrolment into second-semester subject(s) should have the designation HSY4060 (or HSY4060 and HSY4080 if two subjects are chosen).
