Objectives As for HSY2460 with the additional objective that students will be expected to achieve a more sophisticated understanding of the conceptual issues involved, including representations of the conflict in specific cultural contexts.

Synopsis As for HSY2460.

Assessment Historiographical essay (500 words): 10%
* Document exercise (500 words): 10%
* Research essay (4000 words): 60%
* Examination (1 hour): 20%
* Option of an additional essay of 1000 words in place of examination. In the research essay third year students will be expected to find and analyse primary sources and demonstrate an awareness of secondary literature.
