Objectives As for HSY2400 with the additional objective that students should develop a more critical understanding of conceptual issues and debates in cultural history and of the historical relationships between modernism, race, gender and sexuality.

Synopsis As for HSY2400.

Assessment Seminar discussion (10 minutes): 10%
* Literature review (1500 words): 25%
* Research essay (3000 words): 35%
* Examination (1.5 hours): 30%
* Third-year students will be expected to demonstrate more sophisticated analytical skills and submit work incorporating a higher level of competence in independent reading and research.
