Objectives As for HSY2300 with the additional objectives that students should show a more developed critical understanding of the key organising concepts, including race, gender, and class, employed by historians of twentieth century Australia and display greater independence in the forming and completion of a research project.

Synopsis As for HSY2300.

Assessment Short essay (1000 words): 20%
* Research essay and synopsis (4000 words): 55%
* Examination (1 hour): 15%
* Tutorial participation: 10%
* Third-year students will be expected to demonstrate more sophisticated analytical skills and submit work incorporating a higher level of competence in independent reading and research.
