Objectives As for HSY2210 with the additional objective that students should gain greater understanding of the role of traditional social, economic and political structures in the forming of modern societies.

Synopsis As for HSY2210.

Assessment Written paper and essay (4000 words): 50%
* Examination (2 hours): 40%
* Class participation/attendance: 10%
* Third-year students will be expected to demonstrate more sophisticated analytical skills and submit work incorporating a higher level of competence in independent reading and research.
