Welfare organisational practice II

* Prerequisite: All first-level subjects for Associate Diploma of Arts (Social Welfare), all first and second-level subjects for Bachelor of Social Welfare

Objectives On successful completion of this subject students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how to critically analyse a human service organisation in terms of its goals; formal and informal structure; organisational culture and environment. Students will have gained sufficient knowledge of program, planning, implementation and evaluation to be able to prepare tender specifications and submissions.

Synopsis This subject recognises the organisational context of all welfare practice and will therefore attempt to explore the ways this context can affect practice interventions, as well as introduce students to practice strategies for organisational change. The subject aims to prepare students for the increasing number and range of management functions embodied in many welfare positions today, with an emphasis on project planning and current trends in resourcing.
