Objectives On completion of this subject students should be able to identify the knowledge base required to address a varied series of professional casework situations. This knowledge will involve both specific knowledge of what resources are required, and methodolgical knowledge of how each situation might be approached.
Synopsis Knowledge, values and skills of welfare practice. Introduction to social casework, family welfare work and group work in welfare practice. Compulsory two-day residential workshop at first WES for distance education students, during which area study groups will be formed and debriefed. There will be three compulsory meetings of area groups thereafter. Students will have been made aware of and agreed to attend these commitments during the selection process. Teleconference contact with the subject advisers will be available to groups and individual students by prior arrangement.
