Objectives. The aims of the subject are to enable students to gain an understanding of a key period in German culture and literature with reference to the relation between the individual and society; to develop their capacity to analyse and critically evaluate representative literary texts of the period in the light of the search for personal identity.

Synopsis GRN3045 will examine German literature between 1800 and the 1830s through the study of selected texts
