Objectives On successful completion of a minor thesis, a student will have demonstrated a mastery of scholarly conventions and protocols, an ability to argue a complex case, by reference to texts, and to write in lucid English.

Synopsis A long essay or a minor thesis (10,000 words) on an approved topic of the candidate's own choice. Two copies of the thesis must be submitted in typescript and suitably bound not later than 31 October. Comparative literature students are normally required to read literary texts in the original language.
