Objectives Students completing this subject should become aware of how the Roman system of government developed into that analysed in the CHC1040 course. The forces that determine the functioning of societies will become more apparent.
Synopsis This subject deals with the establishment and disintegration of the Roman Republic. It concentrates on the seemingly inevitable end of the Republic and the civil wars that marked its transition to Empire.
Assessment Two papers (2000 words each): 60%
