Intermediate Cambodian (Khmer), part 2

* Prerequisites: CAM2210 or equivalent skills

Objectives The aim of this subject is to have students further develop, based on their first semester work in CAM1210 and 2210, the ability in speaking and listening to satisfy all everyday social sistuations, such as narrating personal experience, inquiring about or expressing knowledge and opinions, and making arrangements. In reading, they should be able (in Cambodian script) to read progressively more difficult texts, and in writing they should be able to write a personal letter of simple everyday topics or a simple report on everyday events. They should be able to show understanding of Cambodia - specific cultural and social aspects.

Synopsis The aim of this subject is to achieve a deeper understanding of the contemporary Cambodian (Khmer) language. Emphasis will be on active oral and writing skills and on sociocultural aspects of communication.

Assessment Examinations (3 hours): 60%
* Oral, classwork, assignments: 40%
