Objectives At the completion of the subject students are expected to have explored and experienced various aspects and properties of visual perception, through drawing and observation; explored the subjective and objective aspects of observation; acquired the basic beginnings of skill in drawing; studied, through drawing, various natural objects, including the human figure.
Synopsis This subject includes short introductory lectures and practical exercises in drawing under the supervision of expert studio staff. Regular individual tutorials are conducted in the studio. The subject is designed to provide basic experience of drawing skills as they have been developed by artists in their efforts to describe and analyse forms and ideas - both in the past and now.
Assessment Presentation of a portfolio of coursework.
