Objectives As for PLM4290 with the additional objective that students should have acquired an ability to conduct independent research and draw critical links between this research and broader issues relating to the subject.

Synopsis As for PLM4290.

Assessment Essay (6000 words): 50%
* Seminar presentation and participation: 10%
* Examination (3 hours): 40%
* Students are required to devise their own research question (in consultation with the lecturer). In researching the essay, students are required to engage in substantive research using both primary and secondary materials, and to show an awareness of relevant conceptual frameworks.
