Objectives Students successfully completing this subject should be able to: comprehend Japanese television programs related to social, political and cultural issues; to actively join in discussion with native Japanese speakers on current issues in Japanese; present a short paper on current issues in Japanese

Synopsis This subject is designed for those who want to continue language study at the postgraduate level.

Assessment Performance activities: 20%
* Homework: 10%
* Tests: 50%
* Essays (2400 letters in Japanese): 20%
