Objectives Students should develop an understanding of some of the major theoretical approaches and topics associated with Japanese linguistics.

Synopsis This subject covers a selection of topics from Japanese linguistics, such as phonology, syntax, lexicon and the writing system.

Assessment (8 points) Two essays (2000 words each): 40% each
* Test (2 hours): 20%
Assessment (12 points) Two essays (3500 words each): 40% each
* Test (2 hours): 20%
