Objectives As for HYM4500 with the additional objectives that students should develop a greater awareness of the role of racial thought in the development of ideas about `western' culture, and demonstrate a more developed critical approach to the study of race as a `scientific' category.
Synopsis As for HYM4500. In their research essay, students doing the subject at fifth-year level are expected to demonstrate a wider range of reading and a more sophisticated understanding of the different theoretical approaches to the study of race and racial ideology.
